I have always dreamed of owning a Lotus Elise and finally had the opportunity to own one in 2007. Since then I have spent much time working on projects on my S1 Elise, fixing things, breaking things and driving around the UK enjoying this wonderful car - this is my dedication to all things Lotus and a diary of me n my car.

Sound Upgrade

One of the first jobs i did when i first got my Elise was to upgrade the stereo. It didn't have a CD player only tape this had to go.

I decided to ger myself a pioneer stereo with blue tooth so i could answer the phone in the car. The stereo install was a peace of cake plugged straight into the standared socket on the Elise's wiring harness and that was it the trouble I had was locating the mike for the blue tooth I settled for clipping the mike to bottom of the dash as i dint want any of the wires showing. Another problem I had when I first tested the system was getting the phone to work everything appeared fine I could search my address book on the radio head unit but couldn't hear anything through the speakers when people answered even tho they could hear me perfectly. The answer to this problem proved to be extremely obvious the radio as setting the fader to all the front speakers when using the phone option this presents a problem in the Elise as it only has rear speakers. I quick thumb through the manual and i had adjusted it so all sound went to the rear speakers, problem solved.

The blue tooth seems to work really well as long as you are doing sub 40 miles an hour above this the engine noise means you have to shout quite loud for people to hear you. I am now considering moving the microphone from its current location to some ware nearer the steering wheel the dash panel for the heater controls is looking favorite at the moment.
